July 17, 1996: That's not a typo. Fourteen years before they signed him as an end-of-the-bench veteran, the Miami Heat offered Juwan Howard a seven-year, $100 million contract. And he signed it. And was introduced to the media, 16 years ago today. Then ... the league nixed the deal, citing salary-cap rules -- sending Howard back to the then-Washington Bullets and infuriating a certain Pat Riley.
