Nov. 1, 1966: It's All Saints' Day, and 46 years ago, it was New Orleans Saints day -- a special moment in time when then-NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle traveled to the Big Easy to deliver the news: The city was getting a pro football franchise.
John Mecom Jr. became majority owner in December, "Saints" was chosen as the name in January and on Sept. 17, 1967, the team hosted the Los Angeles Rams for its first regular-season NFL game.
