Yearbook, Dec. 6: Jerry Rice's record

By Patrick Dorsey

Dec. 6, 1992: Welcome to the 20th anniversary of Jerry Rice's big catch! Or at least one of his big catches -- the one that allowed him to break the NFL record for most career touchdown receptions.

The play: A fourth-quarter, 12-yard route down the middle against the Miami Dolphins, completed when Steve Young's throw reached Rice's hands. That gave the longtime San Francisco 49er 101 TD grabs, passing Steve Largent atop the list.

Five more receivers have gone on to pass Largent. But none has come close to Rice's final number: 197.
