Update: Soccer chicken brings no luck

By Playbook Visuals

Over in England, Blackburn Rovers fans are not happy with the direction of their struggling club -- especially in the time since Venky's, a meat-processing company that specializes in poultry, bought the team last season. So to protest, someone at Ewood Park released a chicken on the pitch during the first half of Monday's game against Wigan Athletic (aired on ESPN2 -- you might see a highlight or two of this one).

And Blackburn's answer to the the Anfield Cat failed to offer any Rally Squirrel-type qualities. No, Wigan scored a late goal to win 1-0, and Blackburn will be relegated to England's second division in 2012-13.

The Ewood Chicken makes his debut Monday, during a match between Blackburn and Wigan.
Blackburn's Yakubu and Wigan's Ali Al-Habsi secure the chicken after it got tangled in the net.
After the players did their work, a steward removes the interfering chicken from the field.
