Chewing gum sculpture = Rocky Balboa?
By Patrick Dorsey
This sculpture went on display this month in the Dutch city of Eindhoven.
And, as you probably guessed, it's made entirely of chewing gum -- gum already chewed by more than 3,000 students from two local schools: Eindhovense School and SintLucas.
But you might find at least a little resemblance between this faceless display of victory -- developed by the Netherlands communications group kesselskramer, as a celebration of the merging of the two aforementioned schools -- and a certain iconic image that later became a statue:
So was it modeled after Rocky?
"That's for the viewer to decide!" wrote Jurian Strik, whose company has worked in sports before; it developed a soccer documentary called "The Other Final" and an ad campaign for Nike on a 78-year-old marathoner.
