UEFA Euro 2012: Italy's major trophies

By Patrick Dorsey

UEFA Euro 2012, one of soccer's top international competitions, kicks off June 8. In anticipation of this eagerly awaited event, Playbook is teaming up with ESPN FC to offer sights and other delights from each participating nation.

Italy is one of world football's great powers. So naturally, the Azzurri have lifted many major trophies -- including four from the World Cup (ranking second in Cup history), and one from the European Championships.

Here are those five:

Fabio Cannavaro
Defender Fabio Cannavaro lifts the trophy after the Azzurri beat France for the 2006 World Cup title.
Claudio Gentile, left, and Dino Zoff hold the trophy after beating West Germany in the 1982 World Cup final.
Giacinto Facchetti
Captain Giacinto Facchetti holds the trophy after a 2-0 win over Yugoslavia to capture Euro 1968.
Manager Vittorio Pozzo and his team celebrate their second World Cup victory, this one in 1938.
The first one came in 1934, after which the team hoisted a happy Pozzo like a trophy himself.
Who converted Italy's title-clinching penalty kick at the 2006 World Cup?

The answer will be posted on Facebook later today ...
