Euro 2012: England's celebrity support

By Patrick Dorsey

UEFA Euro 2012, one of soccer's top international competitions, kicks off June 8. In anticipation of this eagerly awaited event, Playbook is teaming up with ESPN FC to offer sights and other delights from each participating nation.

With England being a hotbed for football -- "soccer" to us Yanks -- naturally the nation features plenty of celebrity supporters.

For example, pop star Robbie Williams and actor/singer Russell Brand chimed in on the song "Three Lions," when it was remade by The Squad for World Cup 2010:

So let's take a look at some of those big-name fans from past and present. (By no means is this all of them.)

ROBBIE WILLIAMS
Robbie Williams
He doesn't just support; he wears the English shirt (seen here at a recent charity match).

HUGH GRANT
Fabio Capello, Hugh Grant
Grant supports Fulham; does he still love England even after the departure of Fabio Capello (right)?

ELTON JOHN
Elton John
That's Elton John in the middle, of course, with Don Revie's England squad in 1975.

PRINCE WILLIAM
Prince William
No surprise -- Britain's Prince William supports England, as seen here at World Cup 2010.

IDRIS ELBA

JUDE LAW

The English actor looked on in 2004, during England's Euro qualifying match vs. Liechtenstein.

FATBOY SLIM
Fatboy Slim
The DJ not only supports his national team, but owns a stake in Brighton and Hove Albion.

MICHAEL CAINE
'Escape to Victory'
Hey, he helped his team defeat Germany in the film 'Victory' (with Sylvester Stallone, of course).

VICTORIA BECKHAM
David and Victoria Beckham
Now that David Beckham is off the squad, Victoria isn't as ever-present. But for a while there...

TRIVIA
What English club does the aforementioned Russell Brand support?
