Losing hurts. Especially when you're No. 1.
That's what the Indiana Hoosiers found out Saturday, when plucky in-state rival Butler knocked off college basketball's top-ranked team in overtime.
Of course, the Hoosiers weren't the only people to experience the pain of losing this weekend. So Playbook and the aptly named Tumblr "The Agony of Defeat" bring you a collection of dramatic recent sports photos, all showing the other side of a sports outcome -- the beaten.
Check them out:
Cal Sport Media Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell and the Hoosiers could hardly believe what happened at Bankers Life Fieldhouse: Walk-on Alex Barlow hit a short shot with 2.4 seconds left in overtime to make it 88-86 Butler.

Few things are more painful than watching a shot at a championship slip away -- especially when a mistake is involved.
That's what happened to the Georgia Bulldogs, who lost 32-28 to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC championship game thanks in part to some questionable clock management.
Naturally, the Bulldogs wore the agony on their faces. And they weren't the only ones to suffer tough falls this past week. So, Playbook and the aptly named Tumblr "The Agony of Defeat" bring you a collection of dramatic sports photos from the past week, all showing the other side of a sports outcome -- the beaten.
Dale Zanine/US PresswireQB Aaron Murray could only answer questions after UGA's loss, which came in part thanks to coach Mark Richt's decision not to spike the ball with the clock running and the Bulldogs deep in Bama territory.

Losing. It hurts. Especially when the games mean so much.
But it also makes for compelling images, shots of the coaches and players as they show on their faces what they're feeling inside: the agony of defeat.
There's a blog for that, one with which Playbook is working to find some the most eye-catching photos of pain in sports each week: the aptly named Tumblr "The Agony of Defeat."
Here are the selections from the past seven days -- featuring college football heartbreak, NFL frustration and early season NBA struggles:
Geoff Burke/US PresswireRobert Griffin III went into Sunday with hopes of a win over Cam Newton and the embattled Carolina Panthers. Instead, the visitors walked away with a 21-13 win, and Griffin left disappointed and with his team at 3-6.

As Super Bowl winners do, the New York Giants visited the White House on Friday. And sports-savvy President Obama had some words to say about the NFL champions -- as in, don't not call Eli Manning elite.
But much happened behind the scenes as well, revealed by the Giants and their players on Twitter and Instagram:

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is set to host "Saturday Night Live" tonight, making him the second Super Bowl-winning Manning brother to do so.
And oh, we have a bombshell.
According to the New York Post, Seth Meyers said the younger brother might just bring more laughs than Peyton Manning did when he hosted back in 2007.
"Obviously we worked with Peyton and I think people know he has a really good sense of humor," Meyers said, according to the paper, "but Eli’s just as good if not a little bit better.’’
We won't know if it's true until tonight. But to get you ready, Playbook revisits some of Peyton's best moments (with some PG-13 language) from his hosting gig:
