Dirk Nowitzki plays tambourine with Avetts

North Carolina indie rockers The Avett Brothers eschewed the cowbell in favor of more tambourine at this weekend's show in Grand Prairie, Texas, and in doing so, found a 7-foot-tall NBA MVP to provide it. Dirk Nowitzki, a big fan of the band, made the "cameo of the year" (at about the 2:00 mark of the video) according to Joe Kwan, the band's cellist:
