SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Chargers announced that the team signed offensive tackle Willie Smith on Monday. To make room on the team’s 53-man roster, the Chargers released offensive lineman Kenny Wiggins.

At 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds, Smith spent time with Oakland and Washington. The East Carolina product appeared in nine games for the Raiders last season, with seven starts. Smith played in four games, starting three for Washington in 2011.

Recently released tackle Nick Becton cleared waivers and was added to San Diego’s practice squad. The Chargers released offensive lineman Andrew Tiller from the practice squad to make room for Becton.
