SAN DIEGO -- ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that former San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt is targeting another Chargers’ coach to follow him to the Tennessee Titans.

Whisenhunt, announced as the Titans new head coach on Monday, is seeking permission from the Chargers to hire tight ends coach Jason Michael, league sources tell Mortensen.

According to the report, Michael is Whisenhunt’s first choice to serve as offensive coordinator. However, Whisenhunt plans on calling the plays for the Titans.

Michael led Western Kentucky to a 2002 NCAA I-AA National Championship as the team’s quarterback. For the past three seasons, Michael’s served as San Diego’s tight ends coach.

Before that, Michael worked as a quarterbacks coach for the San Francisco 49ers in 2009-10.

Also, Whisenhunt seeks to reunite with his former defensive coordinator at Arizona, Ray Horton, hiring him to serve in the same position with the Titans. Horton served as the defensive coordinator for Cleveland in 2013.
