Good morning. ESPN NFL Nation Buccaneers beat writer Pat Yasinskas reports that Tampa Bay signed former San Diego Chargers edge rusher Larry English. A former first-round pick for the Chargers, English was released before training camp started this season.
The Northern Illinois product would have had a tough time making San Diego’s roster as part of a crowded group at outside linebacker. In Tampa Bay, English will get a chance to return to his more natural position of defensive end in a 4-3 system.
ESPN fantasy draft expert Matthew Berry is not a fan of taking Ryan Mathews early in fantasy drafts, and believes the Chargers will be more of a three-headed monster with Mathews, Donald Brown and Danny Woodhead this season.
Neil Paine of Five Thirty Eight believes the increased emphasis on officials calling illegal contact and defensive holding will not affect passing efficiency in the NFL.
