LONDON -- The San Francisco 49ers have been getting terrific production from rookie safety Eric Reid, the No. 18 overall pick of the draft. They may soon get the services of another player who could have been a high first-round pick in April.

Carradine
San Francisco general manager Trent Baalke echoed the thoughts of coach Jim Harbaugh, saying defensive lineman Cornellius "Tank" Carradine is on target to be activated from the physically unable to perform list. Carradine must be added to the 53-man roster or to injured reserve by Nov. 4.

Carradine has been out all season with a torn ACL he injured while at Florida State. Had Carradine not be hurt, he could have been taken in the top half of the first round. The 49ers took him in the second round with the 40th overall pick.

He is expected to immediately start working into the defensive line rotation when activated.

“We liked him as a football player and we have not been disappointed,” Baalke said of Carradine.

In other notes from Baalke’s media session:
  • The 49ers will make a number of moves as several players are due to be activated from injured lists. That means this deep roster will have to shed some talent. But Baalke indicated shedding from a strong roster is a good problem to have.
  • Baalke praised the coaching staff and the players for going on a four-game winning streak after the team began 1-2. "Just the way the coaches, the players have continued to grind," Baalke said. "The way they're responding to the adversity, the injuries, the off-the-field incident (Aldon Smith’s departure from the team)."
  • Baalke is excited about the young players who have stepped up in the past month. “They are showing they can play winning football,” Baalke said.
  • Baalke said the team would like to do right by cornerback Tarell Brown. He unknowingly forfeited a $2 million workout bonus this year and is in the final year of his contract. “We’re going to do our best to make it right,” Baalke said. We’re going to do our best to make sure T. Brown feels he’s being treated fairly by the 49ers’ organization.”
  • Baalke heaped praise on receiver Anquan Boldin, who is in his first year with the team and the final year of his contract. It sure sounds like Baalke wants Boldin, 33, back in 2014.
