SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- It's vogue this week to be down on San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

He threw for 91 yards in 10-9 loss to Carolina. The critics are chirping. It seems the fact that the 49ers scored 31 or more points during a five-game win streak going into that game is being overlooked.

Down with Kaepernick.

However, ESPN's Kevin Seifert has an interesting take that brings some perspective to Kaepernick's season.

Kaepernick was the sixth quarterback taken in the 2011 draft. He was the 36th pick. Of those six quarterbacks, Kaepernick has the highest Total QBR and, most importantly, the highest winning percentage.

So, while Kaepernick isn't always perfect, the kid could be a lot worse. So, let's settle down and realize not all is lost at the 49ers' quarterback position.
