Important step for Colin Kaepernick

September, 5, 2013
Not that there was any doubt, but this is Colin Kaepernick's team.

The third-year quarterback was named one of the San Francisco 49ers’ team captains going into the 2013 season.

The team also elected defensive end Justin Smith, linebacker Patrick Willis and special teamer C.J. Spillman as captains. The Sacramento Bee first reported the selections.

This a significant move for Kaepernick and the next step as he leads this team.

Alex Smith remained a team captain after Kaepernick took over as starter last season. As Kaepernick begins his first full season, this title shows there’s little doubt about his role on the field and in the locker room.
