However, there was no urgency to make a move. The 49ers host Atlanta on Monday night and their practice week doesn't start in earnest until Thursday. There is a chance they could make a move Wednesday.
One option is former defensive lineman/fullback Will Tukuafu. A source close to the situation confirmed he worked out for the team Tuesday. He could sign in the next day or so. Tukuafu, who was released from the team earlier this year, was primarily a defensive tackle but he had snaps at fullback. He is 6-foot-3, 293 pounds.
Even if Tukuafu is signed, it's doubtful he would completely take on Miller's role. Miller played nearly 60 percent of the snaps this season.
The more likely scenario is the 49ers use reserve running back Anthony Dixon in Miller's role. Dixon took over for Miller when he was injured. Also, the 49ers may use more multiple sets as we outlined Monday.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The San Francisco 49ers did not make a roster move Tuesday to adjust to the likely season-ending scapula injury suffered by versatile fullback Bruce Miller at Tampa Bay.
