NFL honors Phil Dawson again

December, 31, 2013
When Phil Dawson’s consecutive field goal streak of 27 ended with a 24-yard missed field goal, the NFC Player of the Week seemed farfetched.

However, the 38-year-old Dawson went from unexpected goat to 49ers savior by hitting a 56-yard field goal with 1:45 to go to give the 49ers a lead and then a 40-yard field goal as time expired to give them a 23-20 win at Arizona on Sunday.

It’s the second time Dawson has been named the NFC special teams player of the week this season. It happened after Week 14 when he beat Seattle in the final seconds.
