GREEN BAY, Wis. – The San Francisco 49ers' ideal wild-card road is paved for them if they can win at Green Bay on Sunday.
The 49ers will play at the Carolina Panthers next Sunday if they beat the Green Bay Packers. The potential matchup was ensured Saturday night when the No. 6 seed New Orleans Saints won at the No. 3 seed Philadelphia Eagles.
San Francisco is the No. 5 seed. If the 49ers win their next two games, they’d play the winner of the Seattle-New Orleans game in the NFC title game on Jan. 19. If the 49ers play at Seattle, it would be on the road if they play the Saints, it would mean there would be one more game at Candlestick Park before the 49ers move to Levi’s Stadium next season.
The 49ers lost at home to the Panthers, 10-9, on Nov. 9 in one of the most physical games of the NFL season.
