We are taking a look at the top 60 players in the San Francisco 49ers' program and will rank them from 1-60. We are going to take a look in a 12-part series, moving upward. The ranking considerations are based on 2013 production, future projections, age, and contract status:

6. Linebacker Patrick Willis: Willis is still at the top of his game. Yes, he just turned 29 and yes, he dealt with several nagging injuries in 2013. But he is still a top-notch defender, who is in his prime.

7. Tight end Vernon Davis: Davis is a premier playmaker, who helps makes this offense special. He is a red zone terror.

8. Linebacker Ahmad Brooks: Brooks may be the least known of the 49ers' stellar four linebackers. But he is highly respected around the NFL. He was nearly unstoppable at times last season and is a complete player.

9. Safety Eric Reid: Scouts rave about the 2013 first-round pick. The sky is the limit for this smart, hard-working and talented player.

10. Guard Alex Boone: He played every snap last season and he played it well. A tough, feisty player who helps makes the 49ers’ offensive line special.
