Now that the NFL combine is over, it is time for our second San Francisco 49ers mock draft for the first round.
The 49ers will have the 30th pick in the first round of the draft, which takes place May 8-10. Based on the outcome of the combine, I am sticking with the same position for the 49ers' first pick. I am, however, changing players.
Mock draft pick Take I: Penn State receiver Allen Robinson.
Mock draft take II: Oregon State receiver Brandin Cooks.
Why: It's pretty simple. Cooks appears to be the better, more NFL-ready prospect. Cooks was a combine star. He ran a silly-good 4.33 40-yard dash. In addition to his world-class speed, Cooks has good football skills. His skill set is much needed in San Francisco. Because of his strong performance at the combine, Cooks may go higher than No. 30. But that may not be a problem. The 49ers have a surplus of picks and could easily move up to take Cooks if they deem it necessary.
