Goodwin is 49ers' lone remaining free agent

Now that Colt McCoy has signed with the Washington Redskins, there is one remaining San Francisco 49ers free agent -- center Jonathan Goodwin.

It might stay that way for a while.

The 49ers haven’t closed the door on Goodwin, but he is far from a priority. The team is expected to give Daniel Kilgore a chance to replace Goodwin as the starting center. The team could also draft a center to groom.

I think if the 49ers don’t think Kilgore can handle the job, perhaps they could make a call to Goodwin down the road. Goodwin, 35, has considered retirement, but has indicated he is still interested in playing.
