Thoughts on McShay’s mock change

In an Insider piece, ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay changed several of his picks in the first round.

The pick for the San Francisco 49ers was one of the changes McShay made . He previously had the 49ers taking Florida State receiver Kelvin Benjamin with the No. 30 pick. In this version, McShay left Benjamin off the board in the first round.

Instead, he has the 49ers nabbing Minnesota defensive tackle Ra'Shede Hageman at No. 30.

Perhaps the 49ers brass loves Hageman. He's certainly considered a fine player and a solid first-round choice. But I don’t know if that is an immediate need position. The 49ers have a lot of youth at the position. I’d take a receiver or even a pass-rusher in this scenario over Hageman.

This mock is another reason it appears the 49ers would be best suited moving up to get a top cornerback or receiver.
