Gore said he is not worried because the 49ers look fine in practice.
While the players are taking a positive approach, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh was more pointed. He said his team overall is lacking precision at this point.
“That’s football. It punishes mistakes,” Harbaugh said. “It rewards execution and precision.”
Harbaugh said he wants to see significant improvement next Sunday when the 49ers play host to San Diego. That’s the game the starters usually play into the second half.
"It’s off right now,” Harbaugh said. “Definitely off, in little correctable ways. That’s what I see. Feel like we can get it corrected."
Backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert continued to struggle. He threw an interception. Josh Johnson, the No. 3 quarterback, lost a fumble and No. 4 quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson was intercepted. Harbaugh was not pleased with the mistakes, but he said he believes Colin Kaepernick’s backup is on the roster.“Whoever doesn’t turn the ball over will be the backup quarterback," Harbaugh said.Gabbert is still the favorite because he is guaranteed $2 million this season. Gabbert said after the game he has to find consistency. "We need to make decisions on who to play. We’re not going to keep experimenting. We need to tighten this down fast"
Harbaugh said there were some positives to come out of the game. He praised the play of two rookies -- running back Carlos Hyde and fourth-round pick Bruce Ellington. Both players have been good all summer.
