The 49ers are tumbling down the rankings. This is what happens when a team is outscored 56-10 in back-to-back weeks.
The team is ranked No. 10, two weeks after being No. 1 in the rankings. The 49ers falling down to a double-digit ranking is a bit historic. It is the 49ers’ lowest ranking since they were No. 16 in Week 5 of the 2011 season, Jim Harbaugh’s first in San Francisco.
San Francisco was never ranked lower than No. 5 all of last season.
But this rankings fall is warranted. The 49ers are not playing well and there are big problems as the team prepares to play at St. Louis on Thursday night.
