Wilson hints at secrets for staying calm

RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson said he can't remember the last time he was flustered during a game, but he does have a little routine he employs whenever he needs to remain calm and stay focused.

He stares at something.

"I find a spot in the stadium," he said. "It's just to bring me back to zero, just to make me relax or whatever. If I ever feel like I'm doing really well or not doing so well, it's like, 'Hey, just play the game, even keel.'"

And where does he look?

“I can't tell you where," he said smiling. "Don't ask."

Does the spot he stares at change? "Maybe," he said.

Wilson said he has one other routine he follows during every game.

"The other thing I do is just focus on my fundamentals," Wilson said. "I focus on the fundamentals of my footwork and focus on the fundamentals of the protections and all that. At the end of the day, I know that I've prepared the right way. So I think that's what helps me play and helps me stay relaxed, in those moments."
