RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks receiver Percy Harvin was listed as limited participation in practice Wednesday. Coach Pete Carroll said earlier in the day that Harvin was ready to go, but his status for playing on Sunday remains uncertain.
“He’s ready to come out and work,” Carroll said. “That doesn’t mean he’s going to play in this game. We don’t know that yet. He’s got to make it through the practices.
“He feels 100 percent. He feels like he’s ready to go for it. He’s running really hard. I’ve seen him on the practice field a lot and watched him in his workouts and he’s on it. It’s a pretty exciting time, so we’re all encouraged. But check in with us [Thursday].”
The surprise of the day was cornerback Richard Sherman did not practice and was listed as having a hip injury, but Sherman is expected to talk to the media Thursday.
Starting offensive tackles Russell Okung and Breno Giacomini were back as full participants in practice. Center Max Unger and defensive linemen Red Bryant, both of whom missed the Atlanta game with concussions, were limited at practice Wednesday.
“I’ll throw everybody in a kind of a heap right here,” Carroll said. “All these guys are in a one-day-at-a-time process of showing us that they’re OK and they’re capable. So we’ll see how they are and just keep going. We’ll make a decision late in the week on where all these guys fit in. They have to endure the days [at practice] and show that they’re capable and all that.”
Carroll wouldn’t specify what Harvin’s role will be if he does play Sunday.
“We’re just going to bring him back appropriately, whatever that is,” Carroll said. “We’ll figure that out, plays-wise, and how much we go to him and all that. We’re not going to play him unless he’s ready to go full speed. But if you look at where he is, he’s like a guy in his first preseason game, so we’ll be careful with it.
“We need to see where he is and how he reacts and responds. Then we’ll just kind of determine it as we go. There’s not a grand plan here because we don’t have enough information yet.”
Carroll didn’t have any new information on cornerback Brandon Browner's groin injury.
“It’s pretty serious,’’ he said. “But it will take all week to figure it out.”
Rookie Defensive tackle Jordan Hill returned to practice on limited basis after sitting out the Atlanta game with a biceps injury. Also listed as limited were safety Kam Chancellor (hip), fullback Derrick Coleman (hamstring), linebacker Heath Farwell (knee) and running back Marshawn Lynch (knee).
