Seattle's spot in ESPN's Playoff Machine

RENTON, Wash. -- A lot can and will happen before the playoffs begin, but ESPN has already started its NFL Playoff Machine.

Here's the link to check it out.

If the playoffs started today, the Seattle Seahawks would be the top seed in the NFC and get a first-round bye the weekend of Jan. 4-5. Seattle would play Jan. 11 or 12 at CenturyLink Field against a winner of the wild-card round. Those four first-round teams for now on the ESPN list are Carolina, San Francisco, Detroit and Philadelphia.

New Orleans would have the other first-round bye and play host to one of the wild-card round winners.

Assuming the Seahawks win their first playoff game, they would play the NFC Championship Game at CenturyLink Field on Sunday, Jan. 19.

The Super Bowl is two weeks later at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., in what likely will be the coldest Super Bowl ever.

Who knows how all this will play out, but it's fun to look at our Playoff Machine and see how it changes week to week.
