The NFL announced 2014 exhibition schedules for all 32 teams on Wednesday. The Seattle Seahawks, the defending Super Bowl champions, will attempt to continue the team’s dominance during exhibition play as well for the upcoming season.
Under coach Pete Carroll, the Seahawks are in the midst of a nine-game winning streak during exhibition play. Traditionally, Seattle plays teams from the AFC West in the preseason in part to cut down on travel time during exhibition play.
Even with the Seahawks facing the AFC West during the regular season, that trend will continue in 2014.
And as the Seahawks have done since 2006, they close out exhibition play against the Raiders, traveling to Oakland for an Aug. 28 contest.
So the Seahawks will play the Broncos, Chargers and Raiders twice this season, once in preseason play and once during the regular season.
The 2014 preseason will kick off on Sunday, Aug. 3, in Canton, Ohio, when the Buffalo Bills face the New York Giants in the Hall of Fame game.
The league’s slate of eight nationally televised preseason games will feature eight 2013 playoff teams.
The Seahawks finished 4-0 for a second straight season in exhibition play in 2013.
Seattle is 96-66 all-time in the preseason.
Under Carroll, the Seahawks are 11-5 in exhibition play.
