Earl Thomas wants to help the rookies

As one of the most respected players on the Seattle Seahawks, free safety Earl Thomas feels he has a responsibility now to help the rookies and all the new guys trying to find a spot on a Super Bowl-winning team.

“It’s always a learning curve,” Thomas said. “The biggest thing for me is just try to lead by example. I also help them out as much as possible. I don’t know it all. I always tell those guys I don’t know it all.

“But the biggest thing is just play fast. That’s what film is for. We’ve got great coaches out here. They do a great job coaching us up on the go. I think that’s the best way to learn.”

Thomas isn’t one to act like a star, even though he is widely regarded as the best safety in the NFL. However, he does enjoy one little perk that came with winning the Super Bowl.

“You know, I’m a pretty boring person,” he said. “I just tell the truth about it. But when people call you champ, I like that. When you’re at the barbershop or anywhere you walk and they’re like, ‘What’s up Champ?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, man, that sounds real good.’ I don’t want to lose it.”
