We all grow weary of hearing about college football players who run into trouble off the field.
What about all those guys who're doing everything right?
I'd say Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy qualifies as one of those guys, and props to him for winning the Paul W. Bryant Award as Alabama's male student-athlete of the year. Gymnast Kassi Price was named the Crimson Tide's female student-athlete of the year.
The Paul W. Bryant Award, created in 1985, brings public recognition to the outstanding achievements of Crimson Tide student-athletes in the classroom, in their athletic endeavors and in the community.
McElroy, a native of Southlake, Texas, was the SEC championship game MVP and is a perfect 14-0 since taking over the starting quarterback job at the beginning of the 2009 season. Earning his undergraduate degree in just three years, the three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll is working toward a Master’s degree in sports administration.
