Richt: Murray hasn't won the job

Georgia coach Mark Richt emphasized at a booster club speaking stop in Savannah, Ga., on Wednesday that Aaron Murray hadn't won the Bulldogs' starting quarterback job.

Richt said the only thing that's been determined is that Murray exits the spring as the No. 1 guy and that anybody could still win the job in the fall.

Sounds like to me that's probably what Richt told Logan Gray when the two met on Monday about Gray's future. Gray is still deciding whether or not he wants to transfer. If he does, it's not going to be armeggedon for the Georgia football team next season.

But having him around sure provides a lot more insurance at the quarterback position, especially with the other two options being freshmen who've never played.

It almost sounds like Gray wouldn't mind playing another position, maybe receiver. Is there a scenario out there where he stays on the team, gets a shot at receiver and goes to quarterback as needed?

The bottom line is that he's one injury away from being the Bulldogs' starter at quarterback.

And if he doesn't hang around, the Bulldogs are one injury away from playing a kid at quarterback (Hutson Mason) who's still finishing up high school right now.
