Arkansas fans have no reason to be alarmed.

So says coach Bobby Petrino.

Junior quarterback Ryan Mallett will be on crutches for the next two weeks after undergoing a procedure Wednesday night to replace a screw in his left foot, but his recovery remains on track.

The procedure was planned as part of Mallett’s rehabilitation process after breaking a bone in his left foot during conditioning drills in February. Mallett missed all of spring practice.

"We fully anticipated this would need to be done in early to mid-June, and the timing of it was intentional to allow him to prepare for the season as much as possible during the summer months," Petrino said Wednesday. "He will be non-weight bearing for the next two weeks, and I expect Ryan to return fully after that time period. I am completely confident in our athletic trainers and medical staff and the plan they have put in place for Ryan."

Petrino said at the SEC spring meetings that Mallett was scheduled to start throwing some last week and was also doing some straight-ahead running.
