Florida reeled in the No. 1 signing class in the country this past year, so it stands to reason that the Gators would play a bunch of those guys this past weekend in the opener.

As it turns out, the Gators played 15 true freshmen in their season-opening 34-12 victory over Miami (Ohio), which was more than anybody else in the country.

Here’s a rundown of how many true freshmen the other SEC schools played in the opener:
  • Auburn – 12
  • Tennessee – 12
  • Vanderbilt – 10
  • Arkansas – 9
  • LSU – 9
  • Alabama – 8
  • South Carolina – 7
  • Kentucky – 6
  • Ole Miss – 5
  • Georgia – 3
  • Mississippi State – 2
