The SEC league office has announced its top performers for Week 4:
OFFENSE
Auburn quarterback Cameron Newton: He accounted for five touchdowns and 334 yards of total offense in Auburn's 35-27 win against South Car0lina. Newton rushed for 176 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries and is the only player in the SEC to have two 170-yard rushing performances this season.
DEFENSE
Alabama safety Robert Lester: His two interceptions were key in Alabama's come-from-behind 24-20 win against Arkansas. He returned his second one 33 yards to the Arkansas 12 to set up the Tide's game-winning touchdown. Lester also had seven tackles, including five solo stops. He leads the SEC with four interceptions.
SPECIAL TEAMS
LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson: He returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown in LSU's 20-14 win against West Virginia, Peterson's second punt return for a touchdown this season. He also partially blocked a West Virginia field-goal attempt.
OFFENSIVE LINE
Mississippi State tackle Derek Sherrod: He helped pave the way for Mississippi State to gain 314 total yards and gave up no sacks in the Bulldogs’ 24-12 win against Georgia. Three of Mississippi State's five second-half drives went for 10 plays or more.
DEFENSIVE LINE
Auburn tackle Mike Blanc: He had a season-high seven tackles and one fumble recovery in Auburn's 35-27 win against South Carolina. Blanc's fumble recovery led to a touchdown drive in the fourth quarter that gave the Tigers their final margin of victory.
FRESHMAN
Florida quarterback Trey Burton: He set a school record with six touchdowns in the 48-14 win against Kentucky. He's only the fourth player in SEC history to score six touchdowns in a game. Burton, who also lines up some at receiver, had five of his touchdowns rushing and caught an 11-yard touchdown pass.
