Florida running back Jeff Demps, the Gators' most consistent offensive playmaker this season, will miss some practice time this week with a sprained foot, but coach Urban Meyer expects him to be able to play against No. 1-ranked Alabama on Saturday.

The Gators, however, will be without slot receiver Chris Rainey for a third straight game. Rainey agreed Monday in court to a plea deal in his stalking case and won't face prosecution, but Meyer said Rainey is still not part of the team at this point and won't play against the Crimson Tide.

Meyer said tests on Demps' foot didn't show any broken bones or ligament damage. The goal these next couple of days is to rest him and make sure he's healthy by Saturday. He was in a walking boot Monday.

The Gators were already running short on offensive playmakers, and with Rainey out again, not having Demps at 100 percent could really handicap them against Alabama.

The good news is that freshman quarterback/receiver Trey Burton looks like he's going to be someone the Gators can rely on, especially in the Wildcat package, after scoring a school-record six touchdowns in the win against Kentucky. Florida was also able to get redshirt freshman Andre Debose involved last week. He had his first four career catches and lined up at both slot and outside receiver.
