Just like it's all out there in front of Auburn's football team now that the Tigers are No. 1 in the BCS standings, it's all out there in front of Auburn quarterback Cam Newton when it comes to the Heisman Trophy race. He's the clear favorite at this point:

This week, I'm only going to list one SEC candidate, because nobody else in this league is even close to Newton in the Heisman running:

1. Auburn quarterback Cam Newton: The milestones continue to fall. Newton rushed for a career-high 217 yards on 28 carries last week in the 24-17 win over LSU, breaking the SEC record for single-season rushing yardage by a quarterback. Newton now has 1,077 yards and is averaging 134.6 yards per game on the ground. He has 14 rushing touchdowns and 13 passing touchdowns. His 49-yard touchdown run against LSU had even the Tigers' players shaking their heads afterward.

"Plain and simple, he's probably the best player in the country," LSU linebacker Kelvin Sheppard said. At this point, it's going to take a really bad game by Newton to knock him out of the front-runner's seat.
