Something says these recruiting battles between Alabama and Auburn will only get more intense over the next few years.
Caught in the middle this year was running back/linebacker Brent Calloway of Russellville, Ala. The ESPNU 150 prospect signed with the Crimson Tide on Wednesday. He was initially committed to Alabama going all the way back to April, but shook things up at the U.S. Army All-America Bowl last month when he announced that he would instead sign with Auburn.
It was back and forth for a while with a lot of discussion about whether he would play running back or linebacker in college. That was a big part of his indecision, as Auburn talked to him about the possibility of playing running back on the Plains.
But after visiting Alabama last weekend, Calloway elected to stick with his initial decision and signed with the Crimson Tide. He rushed for more than 1,900 yards as a senior in high school, but likely projects as a linebacker at Alabama.
