Rasco puts a bow on LSU's class

LSU had to wait until later Wednesday afternoon for one of its more coveted prospects, but the wait was worth it for the Tigers.

Defensive end Jermauria Rasco of Shreveport, La., chose LSU over Texas, giving the Tigers 22 signees in the 2011 class. Earlier Wednesday, LSU lost out to Florida State on defensive tackle Tim Jernigan, so getting Rasco became even more important for the Tigers.

With defensive tackle Anthony Johnson already enrolled in school, it's a very strong class up front for the Tigers defensively. Johnson is ranked by ESPN as the No. 1 defensive tackle in the country and the No. 2 overall prospect. Defensive tackle Mickey Johnson of Covington, La., is also an ESPNU 150 selection.

The Tigers were ranked No. 11 nationally in the updated class rankings by ESPN and fifth in the SEC behind No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Alabama, No. 6 Georgia and No. 8 Florida.
