Check out Tom Luginbill's analysis of the 2010 quarterback class. As he points out, there's not a lot of separation.

There's a semi-SEC flavor to both of the top two -- Phillip Sims of Chesapeake, Va., and Jesse Scroggins of Long Beach, Calif. Sims is committed to Alabama, while Scroggins was one of Tennessee's top targets, but opted to stay closer to home and chose Southern California.

LSU commitment Zach Lee of McKinney, Texas is not among Luginbill's top five quarterbacks, but is one of those guys that Luginbill says is "on the verge."

It's been a rough go of it so far for the Vols in their quest for a quarterback in 2010. Of the 13 quarterbacks Luginbill lists at or near the top, Tennessee has been involved with at least five of them -- Jake Heaps, Andrew Hendrix, Barry Brunetti, Chase Rettig and Scroggins -- but all five have decided to go elsewhere.

Of course, it's never over in recruiting until signing day. And even then, some of the top prospects are now waiting until March to sign.
