LSU coach Les Miles said Wednesday on the SEC coaches teleconference that he's confident senior quarterback Jordan Jefferson is ready to have the best season of his career.

This despite a 4-of-14 showing from Jefferson in the Tigers' spring game this month.

Miles doesn't read too much into that performance and reiterated that Jefferson had the best spring since he's been at LSU.

"He gets it out of his hand so quickly now and goes through his reads much quicker," Miles said. "There's much less hesitation in his decision-making process. I also think going into your senior year, there's a want to have a great senior year, and the leadership position is something your quarterback must embrace.

"Jordan understands that. He wants that, and it's something he's going to be much better at as we go forward."

Miles said the arrival of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Steve Kragthorpe has been huge for all of the LSU quarterbacks and that Jarrett Lee and Zach Mettenberger pushing Jefferson this spring has made the Tigers that much stronger at the position.

"When you get into the back end of your career, you have greater experience and a greater opportunity to focus on one thing," Miles said. "I think Jordan is ready to have his best season."
