If you had to pick Florida's starting offensive line at this point, the Pouncey twins would be there (somewhere) along with Carl Johnson (somewhere).
Slotting everybody into specific positions is when it gets tough.
Steve Addazio, the Gators' offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, has been frustrated by some of the injuries. Maurkice Pouncey has done very little this preseason as he's still recovering from shoulder surgery. Having an all-Pouncey guard tandem is a possibility with Mike Pouncey playing the other guard spot, but only if the coaches are 100 percent sold on redshirt freshman Sam Robey being able to handle center.
Addazio had hoped to get a good look at sophomores Matt Patchan (concussion) and James Wilson (ankle) in the scrimmage Saturday, but both were injured. Patchan is making a bid to win the left tackle job, while Wilson is also having a solid preseason. The key with Wilson will be staying healthy.
The good news for the Gators is that they're building depth and look like they will have some different options this fall.
Johnson could play left guard or left tackle depending on what Patchan does the rest of preseason camp. It appears that Marcus Gilbert is probably going to be the starter at right tackle. Gilbert, a junior, has started at both left guard and right guard during his career.
