Linebacker Petey Smith has become the third Alabama player since the end of the 2010 season to pack his bags and say he's headed elsewhere to finish his college football career.
Smith would have been a redshirt freshman in 2011, but announced on his Facebook page that he was transferring from Alabama to Holmes (Miss.) Community College. He told Izzy Gould of The Mobile Press-Register on Monday that he met with Alabama coach Nick Saban following spring practice and didn't feel like he was able to show what he could do in terms of reps.
"Instead of waiting (to play), I thought I'd just go somewhere else," Smith told The Mobile-Press Register.
Cornerback B.J. Scott had already left the program to transfer to South Alabama. Running back Demetrius Goode decided to leave for North Alabama.
