There was a big sigh of relief coming out of the state of Alabama on Tuesday morning when it was learned that senior defensive end Brandon Deaderick was not seriously injured late Monday night during a shooting.
Deaderick, who started all 14 games last season, was the victim of an attempted robbery in a parking lot of a Tuscaloosa apartment complex around 10 p.m. When Deaderick refused to give the assailant any money, he was shot in the forearm. Witnesses said the shooter then fled.
Deaderick was treated at the emergency room with a non life-threatening wound and admitted to the hospital. He was reported to be in "good" condition early Tuesday morning.
