Saban doesn't expect Deaderick to play

Alabama coach Nick Saban said Wednesday on the SEC teleconference that he doesn't anticipate senior defensive end Brandon Deaderick playing in Saturday's opener against Virginia Tech.

Saban said he was thankful that Deaderick's injury wasn't any more serious. Deaderick suffered a flesh wound to his arm Monday night when somebody shot him during a robbery attempt in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Sophomore Marcell Dareus is the likely replacement for Deaderick at right end and worked there some Tuesday in practice with the first team.
