Byrd begins quest to go back home

OK, maybe he's a little greedy (all competitors are when it comes to winning championships), but LSU senior receiver Demetrius Byrd wants another ring.
The quest to get that ring starts Saturday morning in the earliest start for an LSU football game in modern history. The earlier the better for Byrd. He, for one, is tired of hearing about last year.
"A lot of people still want to congratulate you on last year," Byrd said. "That's last year. All I'm focusing on is this year and getting to Miami."
Yep, Byrd has already done his homework. He knows the BCS national championship game this season will be played in his old digs. He went to Central High School in Miami and lives right around the corner from Dolphin Stadium.
"You can walk to the stadium from where I live now," Byrd said. "In fact, I can stand in my yard and see the stadium."
The next time he sees it, he'd like to be in an LSU uniform.
"That's definitely our goal," Byrd said. "We've got the talent. We've got the leaders. We've got young guys who've just been waiting their turn to step up.
"Now it's time to go do it, and talking about it doesn't get you there."
