Checking in on the SEC football happenings:
- The Wildcat formation is running wild throughout the SEC, writes Ron Higgins of The Memphis Commercial Appeal.
- Anthony Dixon's return this week gives Mississippi State a running back stable that goes four deep.
- Columnist Ray Melick of The Birmingham News writes that Nick Saban's new deal probably won't be his last.
- With freshman receiver Andre Debose undergoing season-ending surgery, there's more opportunity than ever for Florida's younger receivers.
- Tennessee senior center Josh McNeil is one of several players on the team trying to fight his way back from an injury.
- Vanderbilt and LSU will both be putting their trust in young quarterbacks this Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.
- Auburn's Eric Smith has returned to the team and is working this week at both tailback and H-back. Coach Gene Chizik said he expects Smith to play Saturday against Mississippi State.
- After a shaky start in the opener, South Carolina place-kicker Spencer Lanning said there's no reason for concern.
- He's a cornerback by trade, but Georgia's coaches are looking for more ways to get freshman Branden Smith the ball, be it on offense or in the return game.
