Florida coach Will Muschamp said Wednesday that he doesn't see senior quarterback John Brantley doing anything in practice this week.
Brantley is still recovering from a high ankle sprain and has missed the last two games. The Gators are off this week and then face Georgia on Oct. 29.
"He's very limited as far as running around and has not practiced," Muschamp said. "I don't foresee him practicing at all this week, and we're hoping to get him back Monday. That’s where we are at this point. His rehab has gone well. He's worked awfully hard, and he’s done everything we've asked him to do and then some. He’s lived in the training room, trying to get back and get healthy."
If Brantley can get to the point physically where he can move around and protect himself by next week, Muschamp certainly thinks Brantley has enough experience where he can get ready to play in a week.
"John is very sharp mentally, so for him to get back pretty quickly shouldn’t be an issue," Muschamp said.
The Gators were held to 128 passing yards last week in their 17-6 loss to Auburn with true freshmen Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel splitting the duties. In their 41-11 loss to LSU two weeks ago, they were held to 100 yards passing. Driskel had an ankle injury and didn't play against LSU.
