Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
We at the SEC blog are very thankful for a lot in 2011 and beyond.
Fellow SEC blogger Chris Low expressed the things that he was thankful for Wednesday, so I thought I'd give it a go before everyone dines on their favorite Thanksgiving dish.
I'm extremely thankful for the hard work and determination my parents instilled in me at a young age. They passed away way too early in my life, but still provide me with mountains of strength. Their wisdom guides me every day.
Here's to making them proud.
I'm thankful for my family that has been there for me when I didn't even need them to. The "Aschoff humor" that makes life that much more enjoyable is something that I hope to carry on and honor. Readers have no doubt caught wind of it from time to time.
I'm thankful for all of the opportunities I've had in the last few years. At this age, I never thought I'd be able to write for an outlet like this one and for that I am truly humbled. I have worked with some incredible people along the way and without them I wouldn't be where I am today.
I'm thankful for my new ESPN family. We have only known each other for a few months, but it feels like we've been around each other for years. It's great to know that the people you work for and with are so caring. And I couldn't have asked for a better teammate than Chris Low. Without him I'd be sunk.
I'm thankful for my friends, who have been true rocks within the last year. Some didn't even hesitate to toss away their rainy day funds to immediate fly out to Mississippi to join me as I said farewell to my mother, and for that I am extremely grateful.
Finally, I'm thankful for the readers. We have or fun and our spats, but at the end of the day, you make the job that much more fun. Thanks for the warm SEC welcome.
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and chows down on something delicious. Remember to let those around you know how grateful you are to have them in your lives and hug them even tighter.
