This Lane Kiffin-Urban Meyer rift isn't going away any time soon.

And while Kiffin may have lost the game last Saturday at the Swamp, he's determined not to lose the war of words.

Kiffin wasn't enamored with Meyer's assessment that the Vols were simply trying to keep the game close and weren't playing to win. Kiffin's displeasure with those comments was obvious with some of the jabs he took at Meyer following practice Monday.

He first suggested that Meyer was above any protocol that SEC commissioner Mike Slive might have handed down about what coaches were supposed to say about rival schools and coaches.

Later, Kiffin was asked about any concerns he might have about the flu affecting his team. His answer was another direct shot at Meyer, who came out after the Tennessee game and said several players were ill against the Vols and didn't play as well as usual.

"I don't know. I guess we'll wait and see, and if we're not excited about our performance, we'll tell you that everybody was sick," said Kiffin, responding to a question about whether the Vols had been hit with the flu.

Kiffin's most telling comment, though, centered on Tim Tebow and his greatness. Clearly a big fan of Tebow's, Kiffin sounds convinced that the playing field will level considerably once Tebow is no longer plowing through defenders for the Gators.

"We've got to do a better job of tackling him," Kiffin said. "I wish it was like basketball where you got another chance to play and played two times in a year, because unfortunately we won't get to play (Tebow) again.

"They'll have to play without him next time."
