Tide's Eddie Lacy to miss spring

Eddie Lacy, the heir apparent to Trent Richardson as Alabama's starting running back, will miss spring practice while recovering from surgery to correct the turf toe problems that plagued him last season.

Alabama coach Nick Saban said offensive lineman Arie Kouandjio will also miss the spring while recovering from knee surgery.

The Crimson Tide open spring practice on Friday. They will then take some time off for spring break and resume spring practice on March 19.

Among the other players who won't be out there, at least to start spring practice, are receivers Duron Carter, Ronald Carswell and Michael Bowman. Saban said all three are suspended.

Also, offensive tackle Tyler Love and defensive lineman Undra Billingsley have both graduated and won't play football next season, while punter Jay Williams has decided to play baseball.
